Hearing Aid Fitting And Repair

Often, patients don’t realize how much they needed a hearing aid until the day they purchase them. These small devices end up becoming a crucial part of daily life and making sure they are adjusted properly and well maintained can go a long way toward your overall hearing ability. We aim for each of our patients to have a completely successful outcome with their devices, which is why we spend time fitting and programming them to your specific needs. Let your hearing aids perform their best. Proper fittings and maintenance will keep them in optimum shape, so you can keep on enjoying their results.

Hearing Aid Fittings and Programming

So many of our electronic devices these days are straightforward and user-friendly – simply plug it in, turn it on, and you’re ready to go. While hearing aids are capable of incredible processing power, they don’t instantly restore your hearing the moment you insert them. A significant portion of our hearing ability involves our brain, and relearning how to interpret sounds can take some time.

Getting Accustomed to Your Hearing Aids

When you select your preferred hearing aids at our office, we’ll program them to your precise hearing requirements and adjust their settings to make them as comfortable as possible. We’ll also get you acquainted with your new devices by reviewing how to use their controls and how to best care for them, including details on proper storage and cleaning, battery replacement, and what to avoid.

You’re encouraged to begin wearing your new hearing aids as soon as you’ve purchased them. But beware: things will sound a bit odd at first. It takes some time for your brain to relearn how to process various long-lost sounds. It helps to begin slowly and gradually increase the amount of time that you wear your hearing aids each day in that first week of owning them. We also schedule regular follow-up appointments during your adjustment phase to check in on your progress. We’ll clean your hearing aids to keep them in good condition, and make any adjustments needed to help you hear clearly. In between these appointments, we’re just a phone call away and encourage our patients to contact us with any questions or concerns they may have.

The most important element when adjusting to hearing aids is your patience and the understanding of appropriate expectations. Hearing aids do not instantly give you perfect hearing the moment you insert them, and a learning curve is almost always required in order to achieve success.
The team at Pratt Hearing Aids wants you to enjoy your new devices, and we offer an open-door policy if you find that further adjustments are necessary. We look forward to helping you achieve years of better hearing with your new hearing aids!
